Police attended a house on the Ring Road at around 11am today (Sunday) after reports of a safety concern.

The bomb squad was called as a precautionary measure and residents were temporarily evacuated from homes in the immediate vicinity.

A 50-year-old man has now been arrested over domestic-related offences.

A spokesperson from West Yorkshire Police said: "Police were called at 11am this morning to reports of a concern for safety at a residential property on Ring Road at Cross Gates, Leeds.

"EOD specialists were called purely as a precautionary measure and residents in the immediate vicinity were temporarily evacuated.

"A 50 year-old man was subsequently arrested over domestic-related offences and is currently in custody.

"Neighbourhood officers remain in the area to provide support and reassurance. Enquiries remain ongoing."

Roads in close proximity to the incident were initially closed but have now re-opened.
