Belle Isle murder case: Accused appears before judge

A MAN charged with murder after a body was found at a flat in south Leeds has made his first Crown court appearance.

David Holgate, appeared before Leeds Crown Court today over the death of Robert Milner.

Mr Milner, 41, was found dead at the scene after police were called to a flat on Lanshaw Crescent, Belle Isle, at around 6.30pm last Thursday (March 9).

Holgate, 34, spoke only to confirm his name during the short hearing.

No pleas were entered and no application was made for bail.

A date for a plea and trial preparation hearing was set for April 19.

Holgate is expected to enter a plea to the murder charge on that date.

If the case goes to trial it is expected to last up to eight days

Holgate was remanded in custody until his next appearance before the court.
