CCTV footage shows a Nissan Qashqai was used by the suspects and detectives are keen to hear from anyone with information about it.

It was stolen from the Headingley area on Wednesday, December 11, with the registration SH58 CNV, but was bearing false plates of BJ58 DKE at the time of the shooting.

It was found partly burnt on Ridge Terrace, Headingley, on Monday, January 27.

Detective Chief Inspector Vanessa Rolfe, who is leading the investigation, said: “The criminal use of firearms on the streets is always something we treat extremely seriously and we are carrying out extensive enquiries to build up a picture of the circumstances surrounding this incident.

“The victims were injured as a result of a firearm being discharged into their vehicle. The consequences could easily have been more serious for them and we are treating the incident as attempted murder.

“We have identified this stolen Nissan Quashqai as the car the suspects used and I am keen to hear from anyone who has any information about that vehicle.

“We would particularly like to speak to anyone who has seen that vehicle or the people using it at any point since it was stolen on December 11 or anyone who saw it in the vicinity of Eltham Rise on the night of the shooting or who saw it being left in Ridge Terrace, where it was found on Monday.

“We would like to hear from anyone with relevant dashcam footage or other CCTV of the vehicle or those using it that could assist the investigation.”
