An armed robber stole a dog after bursting into a house on the outskirts of Leeds.

The masked thug walked into the property on Branwell Avenue in Birstall at about 10.35pm on Friday and demanded that his victim hand over her two-year-old French bulldog.

He threatened her with a knife and put the dog into a basket and also grabbed an iPad before escaping.

He is white, about 5ft 6ins tall and of medium build. He was wearing a dark blue bomber jacket, dark blue jeans and a blue woolly hat with a white zig-zag design on it.

He was also wearing a face covering which was possibly a balaclava, and white motorbike-style gloves.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Det Con Mark Gregory at Kirklees CID on 101.
