9 security risks burglars look for when targeting your home
Locking the doors to your home is an effective measure in deterring burglars, but there are a number of other signs which could indicate your property isn't as secure as it seems.
Here are 9 signs which burglars look out for before targeting your home.
1. No house alarm
If your house has no burglar alarm, it is much more vulnerable to break-ins. Equally, if you alarm looks old or is out of use, you should consider replacing it to help deter thieves.
2. Poor condition windows and doors
Windows and door frames which are in poor condition present an easy target for burglars, so it is worth ensuring they meet an adequate standard.
3. No outdoor lighting
If you have no external security lighting that illuminates your garden or front door as you approach, burglars can easily approach without being seen.
4. Valuables on show
Leaving items such as car keys, money, jewellery or laptops in clear view from the window of your home is inviting to burglars, so be sure to keep valuables well hidden.
