Police are appealing for help after an 80-year-old man was confronted by a burglar as he lay in bed at his Leeds home.

Officers have released an e-fit image of the intruder following the raid at the elderly couple’s home in Tranquility Avenue, Crossgates.

The 80-year-old was in bed when the man walked into his bedroom at about 10.30pm on Friday, October 16.

He stole a Samsung S4 mobile phone, cash and bank cards before escaping.

the thief was white, aged in his thirties, around 5ft 8ins tall, of medium build and had short, dark hair.

Detective Constable Matt Cooper, of Leeds CID, said: "This was a particularly worrying offence where we believe the suspect has gained entry to the complex and targeted the address. I would like to hear from anyone who saw this person in the area or who thinks they know who it might be."
