A man has been charged over the death of a man who suffered fatal injuries in an incident following a house party in Leeds last year.

Mwila Chitalu was found dead on Brudenell Road in Hyde Park on the morning of Sunday, November 3.

The 30-year-old, who was known to many as ‘Mo’ and who lived locally, suffered fatal head injuries following an incident at a house party on nearby Ash Grove in the early hours of the morning.

Daanish Hussain, aged 21, of St Enoch’s Road, Bradford, has now been charged with manslaughter, police confirmed yesterday.

He is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court on Friday, June 20.

Mr Hussain had been on bail since the incident. He was one of 10 people who were initially arrested as police investigated what happened.

No-one else has been charged.

Mr Chitalu was described as the “life and soul of the party” by friends following his death.

A fundraising club night was held in Headingley days after the incident to fly his body back to Zambia, where his family is from.
