15-year-old remanded over alleged attack on boy, 12, on Leeds playing fields UPDATED

A teenager has appeared in court after a younger schoolboy suffered serious head and facial injuries in an attack on playing fields in Leeds.

The 12-year-old victim was found badly hurt on land off Butt Lane, Farnley, at around 9pm on Wednesday.

A 15-year-old boy, who can’t be named for legal reasons, was arrested shortly afterwards and has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He appeared at Leeds Youth Court this morning.

Following a brief hearing the teenager was remanded in custody to appear again at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on February 23.

A second boy, aged 14, who was arrested in Leeds on Thursday evening has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

The 12-year-old boy remains at Leeds General Infirmary in a serious but stable condition.
