Cricket fans add to traffic woe for Leeds commuters

LEEDS CITY Centre was gridlocked during the evening rush-hour tonight as thousands of cricket fans headed to Headingley in the hope of seeing the biggest rivalry in country cricket.

The Yorkshire versus Lancashire T20 match was a sell-out, with 16,200 cricket fans expected for the 5.30pm start, which was delayed by rain.

Commuters took to Twitter to voice their frustration at the heavy traffic, which Metro put down to a combination of spectators and visitors to a Leeds University open day.
