Yorkshire Cricket club goes into bat for charity

The two-year link-up was given a colourful launch with a balloon release event on the pitch at Headingley Carnegie Cricket Ground in Leeds.

Familiar faces in attendance included Yorkshire coach Jason Gillespie, captain Andrew Gale, first-team players Steven Patterson and Richard Pyrah and president Dickie Bird.

Yorkshire Cancer Research’s chief executive, Charles Rowett, said: “Sport, and in particular cricket, within Yorkshire is an incredibly powerful way to raise awareness of this devastating disease.”
