She has been nominated in the newly-created Arts category at the YWOA awards, a ceremony which raises funds for Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice.

Nicola said: “I am delighted to have been nominated for the award. I have been privileged to have grown up in the region and had so much support from many people over the years and this has enabled me to help others.”

The Women of Achievement awards is a prestigious event that helps celebrate the fantastic talent of women across the region.

Nominations are still open for this year’s event in eight categories including Courage, Business, Education, Sport, Young Achiever, Community Impact categories and the two newly-introduced categories in Arts and Science and Technology.

All the money raised through the event helps support the work of Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice. Hospices like Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice provide free specialist care services as well as emotional support to patients and their families. Wheatfields Hospice spends £4.4million every year to provide its specialist care services, but only 44 per cent of the costs to run the hospice are covered by statutory funds, the rest comes from voluntary donations.

Charlotte Revill, Senior Hospice Fundraiser at Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice, said: “We want to recognise and celebrate fantastic women in Yorkshire, like Nicola, who might not realise that they have done something outstanding.

“The Women of Achievement Awards is the perfect opportunity to recognise women and say thank you.”

Do you know anyone deserving of an award? Nominations close on Friday, March 24. For a nomination form or more information about attending the event, contact Charlotte Revill on 0113 2033 377 or email [email protected] or you can visit http://www.sueryder.org/YWOA
