Confusion cuisine: Leeds hospital bosses apologise after curry and crumble served on the same plate

A HOSPITAL has apologised after a patient was served a chicken curry and a fruit crumble on the same plate.

According to reports, the female patient was shocked to discover her main course and pudding were side-by-side when she lifted the lid on her dinner.

The strange combination was served at St James’s Hospital, in Leeds, where the woman was said to be receiving treatment for sickle cell anaemia.

The two dishes were mixing on the plate meaning she was faced with fruity rice and a spicy pudding.

Despite being hungry the patient decided she could not face the meal.

Clare Linley, the deputy chief nurse at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has offered an apology.

She said:“I would like to pass on my apologies to the patient and their family for this unfortunate incident.

“Clearly, this was a mistake and did not meet the high standards that our patients expect or deserve.

“I would urge the patient or their family to please get in touch with our Patient Advice and Liaison Service and we can help to ensure that errors like this do not happen in the future.”
