Concerns over Leeds off-licence application

Plans for a late-opening off licence in Harehills have attracted concerns about increased anti-social behaviour and disruption to families.

Leeds City Council’s licensing committee will consider the bid by Venus International in Harehills Road to sell alcohol seven days a week until 11pm.

Although there have been no objections from “responsible authorities” to the application, a letter from one local resident - included in documents being presented to the committee - says: “I am concerned it will encourage customers waiting or gathering outdoors whilst obviously consuming alcohol.

“This will cause public nuisance and poor behaviour, affecting quality of life for both commercial and residential neighbours.”
