Now his best friend George Elliott has arranged a night to celebrate all that is good on a night out while raising awareness of the potential consequences of such actions and also to raise funds for the Adult Critical Care Unit that looked after Tom and his family after the incident.

Miguel Campbell has been galvanised by the house music scene since the early 90s while Jamie Barber, from the Hard Times club night will play some old school sounds.

Slip Sound System (Slip) and Ryan Murray (Groove Box) will bring the tunes up to date.

Mr Elliott said: “I didn’t feel ready to do something like this for a while and myself and a few friends discussed different ideas but we chose this because Tom absolutely loved going out.

“In Leeds, if you go to the right event you never see any trouble. I wanted to celebrate everything that is so special about our city’s nightlife and showcase what happens when you combine great music and quality people without any of the nonsense

“Every year around Christmas there is a rise in alcohol related violence and we want to make people think twice about doing something like that. You never think it will happen to you whether you are on the receiving end or the one throwing the punch.”
