LEEDS COMIC AND FILM FAIR

The Leeds Comic and Film Fair is coming to town on Saturday, February 13.

Sci-fi fans can browse comics, trading cards and toys at the event by Golden Orbit.

Traders from across the UK will be selling thousands of British and American items related to fantasy and science fiction.

The exhibition is open from 11am to 3pm and admission is £2.

They’re certainly an acquired taste, but there’s no denying that Slipknot – the mask-wearing, Grammy Award-winning heavy metal band – are one of a kind.

After headlining Download Festival at Donnington Park, the band is re-touring the UK and will be coming to Leeds Arena on Saturday, February 13.

Leeds is a great place to have a laugh and the HiFi Club is once again hosting its Saturday night Comedy Sessions, featuring three stand-up comedians.

The first act is on stage at around 8.45pm and this week’s billing includes radio host Tom Deacon and promising comic Nick Dixon.

Ticket holders can stick around for the Sam’s Soul Shack club night that follows – playing Latin, reggae and soul music.

Food fans will descend on Belgrave Music Hall on Saturday, February 13 for another epic feast.

The free monthly event includes three floors of food, drink, music, art and cinema.

On the menu this time will be Polish grill Smak!, grilled cheese experts Meltworks, hot dog offering Fat Annie’s, macaroni and cheese favourites Mac Shac and Doughnut Guy.

The event runs from 11am until late.

CHINESE NEW YEAR FESTIVAL

The year of the monkey is upon us, and Leeds Town Hall is putting on a show that will give visitors a real taste of China.

The Chinese New Year Celebrations on Sunday, February 14, will include a variety of performances including dance, music, calligraphy, kung fu and tai chi, as well as a selection of stalls offering Chinese food and crafts.

An all-day gig to help raise funds and awareness for the Syrian refugee crisis will be held in the city this weekend.

The Brudenell Social Club has invited artists, musicians and performers from across the north to take part in its Leeds for Syria event, from 12pm onwards on Sunday, February 14.

Organised in association with Yorkshire Aid and Refugee Start, there will also be handmade clothing, indie arts stalls and information on how you can support this worthwhile cause.
