City Buzz: Five ways to mark LGBT History Month in Leeds

In case you didn't know, February is LGBT History Month and there are loads of events going on in Leeds. Here are five ways you can mark the occasion.

FILM

Everyman Cinema at Trinity Leeds will show three LGBT-themed films such as ‘My Beautiful Laundrette’ and ‘Cabaret’ in the last weekend of February.

ART

A workshop for people aged over 50 in the LGBT community will be held at 10.30am on Monday, February 22 at Age UK Leeds on Mark Lane.

A free talk about the LGBT community and religion will be held at 11am on February 27 at Leeds City Museum, followed by art, music and workshops until 3pm.

NIGHTLIFE

Get out and enjoy a drink at The New Penny – the UK’s longest-standing gay pub – a dance at Queen’s Court and follow it up with some fun at The Viaduct Showbar.

MUSEUM

The ‘Leeds Queer Stories’ exhibition at Leeds City Museum runs until May and includes local stories from the LGBT community.
