City Buzz: Can you stomach new pancake challenge at top Leeds restaurant?

FOOD fans are preparing to battle it out in a pancake challenge at a top Leeds restaurant.

Angelica at Trinity Leeds is challenging diners to tuck into a super-sized pancake contest on Shrove Tuesday.

Participants will have 15 minutes to eat 15 pancakes topped with whipped cream and syrup.

If successful, the pancakes will be free of charge and Angelica will make a £10 donation to the YEP-backed Leeds Flood Appeal to support businesses and residents affected by the recent floods.

There will also be a £100 cash prize for the person who completes the challenge in the fastest time.

But if any food remains on the plate, diners will have to fork out £15 for their food.

The contest on Tuesday, February 9, runs from 12pm to 9pm. Mark Morris, general manager, said: “Eating one a minute for 15 minutes should be a tough challenge for even the sweetest tooth.

“The flooding in December hit many local people and businesses really hard, so we’re happy to have the opportunity to give a little something back to the city.”
