It is part of RDF Building Ltd’s ‘Give Back To The Community’ initiative and aims to combat loneliness among the older generation at this time of year.

Rick Firth of RDF Building Ltd said: “We feel privileged to be able to hold these dinner parties and hope they will provide some festive cheer to those in our local community who can come and take part.”

He added: “If you have an elderly relative or maybe a neighbour who doesn’t get the chance to socialise like most of us do, then we would like to invite them to join us for a complimentary Christmas dinner.”

Scott Westlake, landlord at The Myrtle, said: “We’re really pleased to be involved in such a fantastic community project.

“Christmas can be a lonely time for a lot of people, especially those of the older generation who don’t get out as much as they use to.

“We’re hoping people in our local area will help spread the word to those who’d love a chance to enjoy this special Christmas lunch.”

For more information phone the pubs on 0113 2752101, for the Myrtle, or 0113 3451 383 for The White Swan.

Bookings for the dinners can also be made for up to two people.
