A former magistrate on bail awaiting sentence for sex crimes against boys has been found dead, police said today.
Ray Barnes, 74, who was also a former head of Hampshire FA, was discovered in an NCP car park in Southampton yesterday after going missing.
He was found guilty earlier this month of the attacks on three boys between 1964 and 1983.
The married father of four was due for sentence at Bournemouth Crown Court on January 14.
A Hampshire Police spokesman said: "Officers are not treating his death as suspicious.
"He had been reported missing the previous day and police had been trying to locate him since then.
"Officers are now looking into the circumstances that led to his death."
