Chance for aspiring stars to take stage in front of thousands at Leeds Pride 2016
Performers, bands and double acts across West Yorkshire are being offered the chance to take the stage in front of thousands at Leeds Pride.
The Pride Star competition, launched by Macmillan Cancer Support and Radio Aire’s Cash for Kids, is open to anyone aged over 18.
Performers are being invited to register for the competition before May 13 at 5pm. It will see groups tasked with raising as much money as they can for charity in a bid to win the top prize.
A shortlist of 10 finalists will be drawn up before the winners are chosen to take the stage at Leeds Pride, which runs on August 6 and 7.
Matt Jameson, fundraising manager for Macmillan in Leeds, said: “This is an exciting and unique opportunity for local singers and bands to support two amazing charities but also win a money can’t buy prize of performing in front of thousands of people at Leeds Pride.
“What better way to support us both by fundraising to win a dream prize and be part of one of the best events in Leeds.”
Lisa Sullivan, charity manager at Cash for Kids, said: “This will raise much needed funds for both charities and will help to change local young lives. We can’t wait to see the applications come flooding in.”
