Half-back Jordan Lilley and forwards Josh Walters and Nathaniel Peteru all featured, and Duffy said: “I thought they were all fantastic. They all bought in in training during the week and they all played really well.

“We know Josh well from last season, he’s a fantastic player and a good professional.

“I had watched some of Nate’s clips from his time in Aus, he is tough to handle through the middle and he came and bought in and had a really good game.”

Rovers had been below par in the previous weekend’s Ladbrokes Challenge Cup win at League One Doncaster.

But Duffy felt the victory over Batley was a return to form. He said: “It was just what we were looking for.

“We weren’t happy with our performance last week.

“We had a good, tough week. Everyone bought in and they all wanted to get back to playing at the level we expect.

“They did that against a really tough Batley Bulldogs team who have had some good results of late.”

Bulldogs boss Matt Diskin described Batley’s’ performance as “really poor. He said: “In the first 20 minutes we went set for set. Some individual errors and missed tackles swung that first 20 minutes and after that Fev controlled every aspect.”
