Central Leeds: Thai favourite celebrates with revamp

My Thai, in Leeds’s Merrion Centre, has expanded in size, introduced a new menu, increased its opening hours and created new jobs.

The idea behind the revamped décor is that it will transport diners to Thailand for a traditional Thai eating experience.

Some of the interior has also been inspired by the late King Bhumipol of Thailand.

To celebrate its success and re-opening, My Thai will hold a traditional Tam Boon blessing ceremony, with members of the Thai community and customers.

Co-owners, Simon Grybas and Bee Latham were inspired to develop the business following the reaction they have had from Leeds diners since launching as the city’s first Thai street food restaurant two years ago.

They told City Buzz: “We have been made to feel incredibly welcome in Leeds.

“When we opened our restaurant two years ago, we were just two people who wanted to introduce our love of Thai food to others.

“We’re really looking forward to launching our new-look restaurant and hope lots of new and existing customers will come and see the changes we have made, and sample some of the new dishes on offer.”

The venture has been a great success and it now being number one on Trip Advisor for Thai restaurants in Leeds. More branches are also now being opened outside of Leeds itself.

However, the owners say the Wade Lane restaurant will remain the concept design for the new restaurants.

The restaurant re-opened for business this week and is one of more than 100 businesses in The Merrion.
