WORK is under way to bring the John Lewis building to life at the £165million Victoria Gate scheme.
The project reached a major milestone yesterday as the first diamond façade panels were put into place, which will enclose the upper storeys of the flagship store.
James Hepburn, development manager at Hammerson, said: “We are now at an exciting phase in the Victoria Gate scheme’s construction, as we move to enclose the John Lewis building and begin internal works.”
Mr Hepburn added: “The hanging of the diamond façade panels will enable the Leeds community to begin to see how stunning Victoria Gate will be and how it will enhance the cityscape as we work towards its launch late next year.”
The panels are visible from Eastgate in Leeds city centre.
