The three men, who had their faces covered, entered Cottage Stores, in Newall Carr Road, Otley, on Sunday January 17 at around 8.50pm.

One of the men waited at the door while the other two lept over the counter to assault Tandeep Singh Saggu.

They pulled his turban off and repeatedly punched and kicked him before stealing a significant amount of cash, alcohol and cigarettes. He suffered cuts and bruises to his face and body.

All three suspects were described as slim and had their faces covered with black material. The man who waited outside was described as white, about 5ft 7ins tall, and was wearing a light coloured hoody. The other two were wearing dark coloured tops.

Detective Constable Clare Fisher, of Leeds District CID, said: “Although the offenders had their faces covered and the CCTV is of fairly low quality, we hope the images may assist in jogging someone’s memory if they saw the men in the area around the time of the robbery.

“One man appears to be wearing a dark top with a distinctive pattern on the back and we want to hear from anyone who thinks they know who may have been involved.”

Mr Saggu spoke out about the incident earlier this month and expressed his desire for his attackers to be punished.

He said: “I tried to defend myself against one of them, but then another one joined in and covered my face with his hands.

“One of them was telling me if I moved they would stab me. They were just like animals.”
