CCTV released of gunman who targeted post office in Chapel Allerton, Leeds

Images of a gunman who made off with cash during an armed robbery at a post office in north Leeds have been released by police.

Officers were called to Barthorpe Post Office on Stainbeck Road in the Chapel Allerton area of north Leeds on Saturday July 30 just before 9.30am.

The suspect had entered the building and pointed a gun at a lone member of staff and her customers. Nobody was injured during the incident.

The gunman is described as a white male, who is very thing, between 5ft 10ins and 5ft 11ins tall and aged between 20 and 30.

Detective Sergeant Mark Atkinson, of Leeds District CID, said: “This was clearly a very serious offence in which a man has threatened both staff and customers with a firearm. 

“It must have been a terrifying experience for those present and I would ask anyone who recognises this man or has information about the robbery to contact us.”
