Police today released a CCTV image of a man they want to trace after a pensioner was assaulted in a Leeds city centre pub.

The 70-year-old victim was in The Regent on Kirkgate when he had his wallet swiped by a man who bumped into him at the bar.

He later realised what had happened and challenged the suspect, who punched him in the face before leaving the pub.

PC Andrew Read, of the City Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “The victim was not physically injured but was left very distressed by the incident.

“I would like to hear from anyone who recognises the suspect or who has any information that could assist the investigation.”

The incident happened at about 6.20pm on Monday, February 9.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC 3533 Read at Leeds Central Police Station via West Yorkshire Police’s 101 number or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
