Police today released CCTV images of a man they want to trace following a sex attack on a teenage girl on a bus in Leeds.

Detectives say a male suspect and the 16-year-old victim both got on the number 4 First Bus service at the junction of Pudsey Road and Butt Lane in Farnley.

The suspect was later seen by other passengers touching the girl inappropriately while they were sitting on the back seat of the upper deck.

He was challenged and then went downstairs before getting off the bus.

The driver was told what had happened and police were called.

The incident happened between 7am and 7.10am on Wednesday, April 26, while the bus was travelling from Pudsey Road to Leeds city centre.

The suspect is described as white, in his early 70s, about 5ft 5in tall and of skinny build.

He was wearing a navy blue woollen hat, light blue jeans and a three-quarter length grey jacket with a cream collar and lining.

Anyone with information is asked to ring Det Con Louise Steele of the Leeds District Safeguarding Unit on West Yorkshire Police’s 101 number.

Calls can also be made to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
