Castle Howard in North Yorkshire will welcome hundreds of vintage and classic vehicles to its stunning grounds on Father’s Day.

It is the first time the iconic estate, which has been immortalised in both small and big screen versions of Evelyn Waugh’s celebrated novel Brideshead Revisited, will have hosted the event.

Rachel Underwood, Castle Howard marketing manager, said: “We’re delighted to welcome The Yorkshire Post Motor Show and Classic Car Rally to Castle Howard this Father’s Day; the house will make a fantastic backdrop to this family friendly event with lots going on to keep everyone entertained.

“We hope to welcome lots of new faces to Castle Howard for this popular event, with visitors able to explore and discover our 1,000 acres of parkland and gardens with seasonal displays, lakeside and woodland paths and children’s adventure playground, as well as the motor show.”

In a nod to the Queen’s 90th birthday year, the June 19 event is taking ‘Best of British’ as its theme.

Lisa Bradbury, Yorkshire Post Newspapers events manager, said: “We are really excited to be taking The Yorkshire Post Motor Show and Classic Car Rally to Castle Howard for the first time in its 22-year history. It offers a great day out for the whole family on Father’s Day and we expect this year’s to be the best yet. The show has become a key date in the Yorkshire calendar and Castle Howard provides the perfect setting for this year’s event with its theme of ‘Best of British’. It is a jewel in the crown of Yorkshire and perfectly placed to host this prestigious family show.”
