Cash and photos stolen from elderly woman at shopping centre

CASH and sentimental photographs were stolen from the handbag of a partially sighted elderly woman at a Wakefield shopping centre.

Police are appealing for information after the 77-year-old victim had her handbag stolen from inside her wheeled shopping cart at Trinity Walk in Wakefield.

The incident happened in the H&M store at around 1pm on Friday July 24.

Police said a significant amount of cash, house keys and some black and white family photographs of great sentimental value were also stolen from the elderly victim, who is partially sighted and uses a white stick.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has information about the whereabouts of the stolen items, is asked to contact PC Martin Baldwin from the Wakefield District Policing Team on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
