We have analysed in detail the performances of scores of care homes in our region, after it emerged that around half of all facilities are failing according to a national health watchdog.

Our in-depth analysis found that of the 190 residential and nursing homes in our area that have been inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), there are 10 ‘inadequate’ homes, which have all been put into special measures, and another 80 ‘require improvement’.

The rest were rated as ‘good’ – but none achieved the ‘outstanding’ marker.
