Caped crusaders at Royal Armouries in Leeds

SUPER heroes have assembled to do battle at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.

Captain America, Thor, Iron Man and Batman are among super heroes who will be clashing today (Weds Aug 10) and tomorrow at the museum at Leeds Dock.

Youngsters are being encouraged to dress up as their favourite character and will get the chance to have their photos taken with the super heroes.

There will be live combat demonstrations, including a clash of light sabres along with comic book art workshops, live drawing sessions, face painting and crafts.

Fantasy figures will also be on hand from Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.

Between 11am and 1pm each day, renowned comic book artists Peter Doherty and Kristyna Baczynski will be running live drawing sessions.

They will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate their individual styles throughout the event.

Peter Doherty has drawn extensively for the 2000AD character ‘Judge Dredd’ and has illustrated several significant and acclaimed episodes of the strip.

Kristyna Baczynski’s illustration work has won a Northern Design Award and her comics have been nominated twice for British Comic Awards.

And in a live action performance, Judge Dredd will come out with all guns blazing for a noisy showdown with his old adversary in the outdoor amphitheatre.

Visitors will also be able to learn about the weapons and honour codes of three great warrior cultures – Knights, Samurai and Jedi – and see a battle between the Force and the Dark Side.

In Battle Scene to Silver Screen, visitors will hear how armour and weapons from different periods have inspired creations on the big screen, including Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings.

There will be craft sessions in the Hall of Steel and face painting in the museum shop between 11 am and 4pm each day.
