SANTA PAWS ensured that man’s best friends got into the festive spirit at a Christmas Party for the city’s much-loved canines.
Dogs of all breeds and shapes and sizes played party games and were given festive treats at the annual celebrations at Oulton Institute yesterday. The event was all in aid of local animal charities.
It was arranged by Animal Ark Aid, which was set up by animal lovers Sara Cockerham and her aunt Rita Panayi Reid because they were angry at the number of animals being neglected, abused and abandoned.
Among the charities supported by Animal Ark Aid are rabbit and rodent rescue centre Camp Nibble, Bramley Cavies and Yorkshire Rose dog rescue.
Since 2011 it has raised and donated more than £18,000 to local animal charities.
It was the third year Animal Ark Aid has held a Christmas party.
