IT might be just a stone’s throw from some of the busiest roads in Leeds but the Leeds & Liverpool Canal has to be one of the most peaceful, serene avenues of the city... and it’s also a place with some mysteries.

Train your eyes down to the bottom left hand corner, where some japer has humorously fastened a working door handle to a wooden post. Unless, of course, it was put there by fairies and it really is the gateway to another world...
If you are not sure of the location of the mysterious door handle, it’s just a few hundred yards off another point of interest, that being the upside down and back to front sign which recounts the sinking of a Russian icrebreaker and close to the viewing point over the River Aire.
