AS the YEP’s Hospice Half Hour week of fundraising action continues, our fellow fundraiser the Hospice Lottery has launched a special online offer.

The St Gemma’s and Wheatfields Hospice Lottery and our Half and Half Appeal are the only fundraisers that raise equal amounts for both hospices.

And as we launched our Hospice Half Hour campaign on Monday – asking people to
spare 30 minutes to raise cash for the appeal this week – lottery bosses got behind us to launch a special half-year subscription deal.

Using the promo code ‘#HospiceHalfHour’, fundraisers can sign up to 25 weeks’ lottery-playing for £20. The code offer is now live on the lottery’s website and can also be quoted by new players subscribing over the phone on 0113 278 1500.

Lottery manager Ross Wiggan said: “The lottery offer is really special as it allows people 26 entries for £20 – this at a time when the National Lottery costs £2 per ticket.

“We offer prizes up to £12,000 and the chances of winning our jackpot are so much higher than the National Lottery.

“Plus every penny we make from the lottery goes directly back to the two Leeds hospices, so you know that if you don’t win you’ve essentially made a donation to the care the hospices provide – it really is win win.

“All of the proceeds from the lottery are split ‘half and half’ between the two hospices, just like the Yorkshire Evening Post’s appeal.

“We thought this was a great opportunity to help raise even more money for the hospices.”

***Hospice half Hour aims to raise as much money as possible for YEP’s Half and Half Appeal through a fundraising activity which lasts just 30 minutes, held at any point during this week, National Hospice Care Week (October 6-12). Our Appeal is the longest running newspaper charity campaign in the country and has so far raised £2.8m for Leeds’ two hospices - St Gemma’s and Sue Ryder Wheatfields - but we want to top £3m.

Let us know what you’re planning for Hospice Half Hour and we’ll give coverage to all those involved.

There will also be a roll of honour online and in print.
