Calling Leeds disco divas for a glitzy night

La Discotheque have been putting on huge parties which sold out at Albert Hall in Manchester over the last 18 months with an eclectic mix of old and new soul and disco and will hold its first Leeds night on March 10.

Playing the main room is Norman Jay (MBE), who has been DJing in the public eye for 30 years.

He is a house DJ with funk and soul leanings, believed to have coined the phrase “rare groove” and has knowledge of vintage gems from the days before digital.

He will be joined by Crazy P, a band that have upheld the heritage of soul, musicianship and song writing as well as appeal to a current audience.

Another treat for dance fans will be the set by Greg Wright, who was a resident of the legendary Hacienda.

He was instrumental in landing the new electronic, post-disco records coming out of New York and turning them into what he called ‘Electro-Funk’.

Lisa Millett will do a Live PA for La Discotheque’s Leeds take-over.

Over 20 years she has worked with a who’s who of dance, from Paul Oakenfold and Frankie Knuckles to the present day with DJ Spen, Jamie Lewis and Juan Kidd.

On the night, the historic party venue will be transformed into a disco paradise, complete with giant disco balls, glitter cannons and dance podiums

The carnival atmosphere doesn’t stop on the dance floor either as at this quite flamboyant of clubbing affairs, the ladies toilets are transformed into a micro club – complete with DJ and prosecco bar.
