Businesses forced to close as power cut blacks out Pudsey

DOZENS of businesses in Pudsey town centre, Leeds, were forced to closed their doors after they were left without power this morning.

Around 330 homes and businesses were affected by a power cut in the market town at around 9.30am which left customers without electricity.

The power remained out for around two hours forcing local supermarkets, banks and businesses to close their doors to customers until the electricity was restored.

Sainsbury’s, B&M, the library, and local cafes and shops were also affected by the powercut on and around Church Lane.

A spokesman from Northern Powergrid said that there was a fault on the network.

He added: “We received calls at approximately 9.33am that the power went off and power was restored at 11.18am.

“Around 330 customers were affected in the Pudsey area because of a fault in the high voltage network.”
