VEHICLES supplied by a Leeds van conversion firm are making good use of an award-winning system which puts them ahead of the pack.

Sherburn-in-Elmet's Alphatec Van Conversions has started to use a multi-award winning Dual Top diesel powered hot water and interior heater in its eight-seater Welfare Van.

The new vehicle is aimed at the civil engineering, railway maintenance and fleet hire markets where all-weather capabilities are important.

The compact Dual Top integrated heating system generates interior warmth as well as heated water. The heating system is produced by Webasto Product UK Ltd of Doncaster.

Chris Vaudin, Alphatec's managing director, said: "I saw the Dual Top at an exhibition and immediately realised it had far more to offer than its competitors.

"Features such as autodrain, frost protection, compact dimensions and high performance all convinced me that its technology standards matched our own insistence on high quality.

"My first impressions have been more than realised in practice, as the heating system is particularly popular with customers and is providing trouble-free operation."

In addition to eight crash-tested seats the welfare van includes a galley area with microwave, sink with hot and cold water, electric flush toilet and clothes drying area.
