A BUILDING society chief in Yorkshire has completed a 172 solo sponsored cycle ride for his society’s chosen charity.

Leeds-based Yorkshire Building Society chief executive Iain Cornish is leading a drive to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Mr Cornish, the Yorkshire’s chief of the last eight years, spent three days in the saddle after setting off from Yorkshire Building Society’s head office in Morley on Sunday.

He cycled 172 miles to Charlton Kings in Cheltenham, head office of Chelsea Building Society, part of the Yorkshire Building Society group.

Members of staff in Bradford and Cheltenham showed their support for their boss by pedalling in 15-minute slots on exercise bikes for the duration of his journey.
