plans for 121 new homes on a site currently occupied by a Government department are set to get the go-ahead next week.

Leeds city council’s South and West plans panel is being asked to rubberstamp the proposals for the Department for Work and Pensions building in Otley Road. The plans had attracted nine letters of objection, with concerns about access, over-dominance and the need for an additional primary school.

A report to be presented to the panel recommends approval of the scheme by Telereal Trilliam Limited, subject to the agreement of a community contributions package.

The report says: “The merits of the scheme include the re-use of previously developed land [and] provision of family housing.”
