glass act: Neon experts team up with TV’s Victoria

Have your say

BRIGHT sparks from Wakefield-based Neon Workshops joined forces with TV star Victoria Wood to add extra colour to the exterior of the BBC’s studio at MediaCityUK in Salford.

The firm used glass-bending techniques to create a giant, bright orange neon replica of the word ‘happy’ in Wood’s handwriting. Creative director Richard William Wheater called the end result “satisfying” but also admitted: “Every project has its challenges, particularly when it comes to installing a work of this size halfway up a building in the middle of a gale.”
