BUSINESSES are battling it out as the Leeds Mencap Apprentice challenge returns for a second year.

NHS Leadership Academy and Space Property have already signed up to the challenge, which sees teams from Leeds companies take an initial loan of £50 from Leeds Mencap.

Using their business knowledge, they are tasked with turning it into the highest amount possible over a six-week period.

The team at NHS Leadership Academy are planning a baking contest, car wash competition, a 5k fun run and an event at Leeds Climbing Wall.

Byron Currie from NHS Leadership Academy said: “This fundraising event encourages staff volunteering and overall promotes a culture that benefits the society.”

Space Property aim to use their loan make to sell hand-crafted goods.

James Fairbank, digital marketing officer, said: “We hope we can make a difference with the money we raise.”
