Apprentice funding is available

MORE students could still get funding for apprenticeship training, says the Chartered Surveyors Training Trust (CSTT).

The cash, from the Skills Funding Agency to support apprentices, could potentially help 20 or more students.

The Trust is currently supporting 28 students over six years of part-time study in apprenticeship and managed student positions.

It helps young people from deprived areas and those who face a disadvantage to gaining employment as surveyors.

Christina Hirst, chief executive of the CSTT, said: "In its 25 year existence, the CSTT has trained over 500 young people with a 90 per cent success rate, far exceeding averages across the industry.

"We have the opportunity to offer more places for this year and, in fact, the number of 16 to 18 years olds we can support is almost unlimited, thanks to our government funding."
