Bridging the gap! New business park near Leeds gets connected

The 75-acre Sherburn2 site at Sherburn in Elmet, near junction 42 of the A1(M), has just had a brand new bridge installed.

It links the £105m business park to the B1222 Sherburn-to-Cawood road and has been constructed by contractor Peter Duffy of Wakefield.

Jeremy Nolan, a director at Glentrool Estates Group, the Yorkshire property development company leading the transformation of the site, said: “We are tremendously excited that the new bridge is now finished.

“Symbolically and practically, it opens up our development. It has been built over the historic Bishopdyke stream, transforming the site from an enclosed field to a high-quality employment park ready for business.”

Mr Nolan added: “The opening of the bridge is a seismic shift and pivotal point in the development of Sherburn2.”

Glentrool says the site is attracting “strong interest” from potential occupiers, with the millions of pounds worth of infrastructure work that has been carried out there meaning construction of logistics and warehousing units can start the moment a deal is signed.

The planned units at the business park – which is in the A1(M) and A19 growth corridor – range in size from 35,000 sq ft to 575,000 sq ft.

Sherburn2 stands next to the existing Sherburn Park development, where occupiers include Debenhams, Eddie Stobart and Optare.

Yorkshire property consultancy Dove Haigh Phillips has hailed the new site as “one of the most significant” of its kind in the county.
