Leeds played host to the city’s first ever ‘brain conference’ for medical students on Saturday.

The University of Leeds Neurology and Neurosurgery Society, known as Brain Leeds, hosted the event at the Park Plaza Hotel to enable undergraduates to find out more about the field.

The innovative conference provided an opportunity for students from all over the country to meet and present research, as well as hear from senior doctors and scientists.

There were also workshops run by trainee neurosurgeons and neurologists.

Dillon Vyas, president of Brain Leeds, said: “Students, who are the doctors, surgeons, scientists of tomorrow, are networking and working together to share knowledge and experience with each other to have an impact on the future of healthcare.

“The Brain Leeds committee this year have worked tremendously hard to put on this conference in Leeds for the first time and we would like to make this an event that happens every year.”
