Boy, four, in hospital after collision with car in Leeds

A four-year-old boy is in hospital after being involved in a collision with a car in Leeds.

The crash happened at around 2.40pm on Saturday, when a silver Citroen C1 collided with the young boy in Avenue Crescent, Harehills.

Police said he was believed to have been riding on a small pedal cycle at the time of the collision.

The boy was taken to Leeds General Infirmary and remains in a serious, but stable condition.

Officers today (Monday) appealed for witnesses to the collision, in particular two men who stopped to help him immediately after the crash.

Sergeant James Farrar, of the Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support Team East, said: "We are continuing to investigate this incident in which a young boy has been seriously injured. I would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have stopped to assist the young boy at the scene. 

"We are particularly keen to speak with two men we believe stopped to provide some aid to the youngster.

"I would ask both of these men to come forwards and contact us to tell us what they saw. 

"These men, or anyone who saw what took place is asked to contact myself at the Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support Team on 101."
