Boy, 16, charged with murdering Leeds teenager Irfan Wahid

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murdering teenager Irfan Wahid in Leeds.

Irfan, 16, was found by officers with a stab wound in Harehills Lane at around 3.45pm on Friday.

He was taken to hospital for treatment but died shortly afterwards.

A post-mortem examination conducted on Sunday confirmed the cause of Irfan's death as a single stab wound to the chest

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Detectives investigating the death of 16-year-old Irfan Wahid in Harehills, Leeds on Friday 10 February have charged a 16-year-old boy with murder and possession of a bladed article."

The boy will appear at Leeds Youth Court today.

A 15-year-old boy arrested after Irfan was stabbed to death was later released without charge.

Friends of Irfan have arranged a peaceful vigil on the spot where he died. Posting on a Facebook page set up in memory of the 16-year-old, a schoolfriend appealed for people to 'sort out their beef' by shaking hands and making peace at the gathering.
