An amateur boxer has died following a boxing match in Beeston, police have confirmed.
The 28-year-old man had been competing at a boxing event at Dewsbury Road Social Club, in Beeston, when he was taken ill and collapsed shortly after an amateur match on Friday at around 8pm.
He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary in a critical condition and was pronounced dead on Saturday morning.
Officers from West Yorkshire Police were called to the scene but the boxer’s death is not being treated as suspicious. The coroner’s office has been informed.
