Bodington Junior Parkrun will not go ahead tomorrow after the group of travellers entered the University of Leeds's Bodington Playing Fields yesterday.

A spokesperson for the university said: "A group of travellers illegally entered Bodington Playing Fields on Thursday evening and we are working with the authorities to consider appropriate action.

"In the meantime, because the additional people and vehicles make it unsafe to use facilities such as the cycle circuit, we have taken the decision to temporarily close some facilities and cancel bookings.

"We have contacted customers directly and we will continue to review the situation. We ask that people keep checking the Bodington website for more information.”

The spokesperson said in a typical weekend 200 to 300 people use the facility. More than 60 people took part in the parkrun last weekend.

The website states that all Pay and Pedal sessions as well as the parkrun are cancelled this weekend.

Bodington Playing Fields includes sports pitches, the purpose-built triathlon training facility The Brownlee Centre, and Bodington cycle circuit.
