Bogus callers looking for '˜Steve' target Leeds pensioner in his home

TWO men who claimed to be searching for a friend called Steve refused to leave a Leeds pensioner's home.

Police today released CCTV images of the men who they want to trace.

The duo called at the 72-year-old man’s home in the Oulton Lane area of Rothwell and walked in, saying they were looking for a friend.

The victim repeatedly asked the men to leave but they refused and only left when a neighbour came to check what was happening. 

PC Mick Parker, of Leeds District Crime Team, said: “The victim is vulnerable and has been targeted like this in the past.

“There is a strong possibility that these suspects are travelling around to commit these types of offences and we would like to hear from anyone who recognises them or who has any information that could help to identify them.” 

One of the men was said to have a Welsh accent. He was described as white, slim, and was wearing blue jeans, a black hoody and red trainers.

The other man was described as being of mixed race and a large build. He was wearing black clothing, a black hat and sunglasses. 

The incident took place on at about 7.30pm on Thursday, September 8.
