A body was pulled from the River Aire in Leeds city centre this morning.

Police were called to the river at Neville Street after the man’s body was seen by members of the public.

He was recovered from the water and attempts were made by ambulance staff to resuscitate him before he was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the man’s identity and the circumstances surrounding his death.
